New method radiological changes of the bone system in thermal burns of the lower extremities
Abstract
Joint and bone lesions are observed in approximately 3-6% of victims with deep burns. To determine the depth of burns, an x-ray method of examination can be used, mainly for diagnosing lesions of bones and joints. We have performed 79 X-ray examinations in patients with burns of the lower extremities. The most characteristic structural changes in bone tissue after burns were osteoporosis, osteolysis, as well as dislocations and subluxations. As our studies have shown, the nature of the recovery processes primarily depends on the severity of osteoarticular changes, as well as the age of the patient. It was found that bone remodeling in almost all cases stabilizes 2-3 years after surgical treatment of deep burns.
