Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is the presence of kidney damage or a decrease in the level of kidney function for three months or more, regardless of the diagnosis. GFR is used to distinguish between the stages of CKD. The authors identified a link between renal pathology and cardiovascular diseases, which allowed us to speak about the cardio-renal continuum.
