Abstract

The provision of sufficient iodine, as well as the healthy functioning of the thyroid gland, are of critical importance for the normal course of pregnancy and fetal development. Our research indicates that the preventive use of iodine is more effective in preventing excessive stimulation of the thyroid gland and the development of goiter in pregnant women.
